WhatsApp Is Working On Voice Chats Of Up To 32 People

WABetaInfo has monitored that the WhatsApp instant messaging service has started launching the voice chat feature on a large scale, in preparation for its launch to all users soon.

The site, which specializes in monitoring experimental features in the Mita service, discovered last March in the beta version No. 2.23.7.12 of the WhatsApp application for Android, the Audio Chats feature as a new way to start voice calls.

The site said at the time that the feature may seem unclear as there is no detailed information on how it works.

And now, WhatsApp, which is owned by Mita, has launched the beta version with the number 2.23.16.19 for the Android system via the (Google Play) store, which comes with the feature called (Voice Chats), and the site discovered important details about how this feature works.

According to the screenshot posted by WABetaInfo , a new icon that has the shape of a sound wave appears inside the group chat if the feature is available to users and compatible with the group.

And the site explained that clicking on this icon leads to starting a voice chat automatically with a dedicated interface. And anyone in the group chat can join the voice chat at any time and start talking.

If the voice chat remains empty, it will automatically end after 60 minutes if no one joins. However, anyone can still start another voice chat at any time.

WABetaInfo cautioned that only certain groups can access voice chats. In general, it may be available in groups of more than 32 participants, although this number is the maximum who can join a voice chat at the same time.

The new voice chat feature differs from the existing group calls in that it allows the start of a call without ringing the phone of each participant in the group.

However, each group participant will get a silent notification when a new voice chat is created in their groups, and the group icon will display a thumbnail representing that there is a voice chat in it.

It is important to note that the voice chats are also protected with end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the participants in the voice call can listen to its contents.

WABetaInfo said that the ability to start voice chats is available to some users who install the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, and it will be available to more people in the coming days.

The site believes that introducing the feature appears as a broader version, so some users who have a stable version of the application may be able to try the same feature.

Those wishing to try out the new features can sign up for  the WhatsApp beta program  on Android, and the latest beta version of the app can also be downloaded and installed manually from  here . You can also sign up for the iOS beta program  here .
